Introduction

This publication deals with voice automation with NodeMCU and Alexa with fakeMEPM. This IOT project manual is based on the large open source library and the examples developed by Xosé Perez (Tinkerman). FauxmoESP is a library for ESP8266 devices that emulates a Belkin WeMo device that allows you to control it using this protocol, especially from devices powered by Alexa such as Amazon Echo or Dot.

Alexa and Echo Dot

What is Alexa?

Alexa is able to interact with the voice, play music, create lists, configure alarms, transmit podcasts, read audio books and provide information on weather, traffic and other information in real time. Alexa can also control multiple smart devices used as a home automation center. We will use this project, “Echo-Dot”, which allows users to activate the device using an activation word, such as “Alexa” or “Computer”, as in “Star Trek!
In the field of home automation, Alexa can change several devices such as Philips Hue, Belkin Wemo, SmartThings, etc.

What is Echo Dot?

Echo Dot is a voice-activated speaker that uses Alexa to play music, control smart devices, make calls, answer questions, schedule schedules and alarms, among other things.

Features

1. Listen to music on Amazon Music, Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, TuneIn and SiriusXM
2. Invite your family and friends with the hands-free kit or send a message
3. Controls lights, locks, thermostats, etc. With compatible connected devices
4. Use the built-in speaker, or connect the speakers via Bluetooth or an audio cable to get a larger sound.
Components Required for this Project:
Below you will find a list of components for designing voice-based home automation with NodeMCU and Alexa Echo Dot.
